If you had the opportunity to get away from all this and go somewhere safe, where you can go wherever you want and spend as much money as you want, would you take it?

If the only alternative is to be stuck in hiding for Merlin knows how long, being constantly being afraid you'll be found, and being completely cut off and poor, would you take it?

If the only thing you had to give up is the person who's kept you safe and sane until now, would you take it?

Charlotte says she's going to France until the war's over, and she's locking up our assets here so no one can take them away from us. She says I can go with her, or I can stay. But if I stay, I won't have any money anymore. If I go, I can't take Finnigan with me.

The choice should be clear, but it's really not.

What: Alex needs to celebrate, Adrian needs to commiserate, and Tracey just likes fights.

Tracey was late, as usual, but she wasn't too worried about that. Knowing Alex, he'd find some way to entertain himself until she'd arrived. This wasn't the fancy restaurant that she'd met him at the last time; he was much more at home in these sorts of rough and tumble places, and he'd make sure that Adrian found a distraction as well. Tracey herself had to acknowledge that these places had their uses: their wreckability being one of them. She'd dressed for the occasion, too: a new purchase from Pansy's shop that wouldn't show dirt, dust or blood too easily, or rip at inopportune times.

Thus prepared, she waded into the crowded pub on this busy Saturday night and looked for England's new beater and Quidditch's latest disgraced bad boy.

What: Tracey attempts to steal the painting. Adrian gets suspicious. Lilith's prophecy comes true.

Where: In an abandoned warehouse
What: The Death Eaters want something from the Malfoy home, and they want Tracey to get it for them.

( You want me to steal from the Malfoys? That's really rather crass. )

When: Afternoon, May 9
Where: Leaky Cauldron
What: Tracey visits Theodore and gives him her version of TLC

First Adrian and now Theodore. What was with Slytherin men and their apparent fetish for Hufflepuffs? Tracey didn't understand it, and she certainly disagreed with Theodore's claim that Hannah Abbott was as pretty as she was. It was obvious that the other girl had eaten too much of her own cooking. And her fashion sense! There was none! She felt her own relationship with Theodore cheapened.

But Tracey hadn't come to complain about Theodore about his taste in women. She actually did want to see how he was doing and whether he needed anything. And also to yell at him for getting hurt. And to yell at him for getting Finnigan hurt. And to confess what she'd nearly done last night.

Without knocking on the door to Abbott's room where Theodore was, she walked right in. "Are you still dead?"

What: Tracey goes to see Theodore. Hannah has something to say about that.

( Oh, dear Salazar and all his mistresses, Tracey really, really hoped that she'd never fall in love, if love put such insipidly stupid expressions on people's faces. )
